My first car was a 1979 BMW 320i with some 300,000km on it. When it died about 3 or 4 months after I got it, I bought my mustang off of a friend of mine's cousin in high
school (winter 1997). The car had about 80,000 miles on it at the time, and the only modifications had been a set of flowmasters and the black and silver stripe paint job.
Almost a year later, while sitting inside a friend's house watching TV, his mother informed me that there were flames coming out of the seems of my car's hood. The
alternator had shorted out and sparked a fire from the K&N air filter. The wiring and everything not metal under the hood was destroyed, but luckily it didn't get to the interior.
After about 4 months I began restoring it, had it painted, etc. At that time I put in a new GT40 crate motor from Ford.
