When is the Sabbath?
23% (the largest percentage) of those who responded to a poll on WorldNetDaily about which day Christians should regard as the Sabbath said “Sunday.” I was joined by only 7% who said “Any day of one’s own choosing.” Literally speaking, I don’t see how anyone could argue that the Sabbath is any other day than Saturday. The scriptures are very clear that the Sabbath is Saturday. The majority of Christians around the world may go to church on Sunday, but the word Sabbath refers to Saturday.
On the other hand, just as Jesus told the Pharisees of his day that they were missing the true spirit of the Law, I think those who argue that it is wrong (or even a sin) to worship and observe a day of rest on Sunday are doing the same. God established the Sabbath by working 6 days and resting on the 7th. It is a pattern that we are to follow for good health. We were designed that way. What is important, however, is that we rest and take time to worship God, not that we do it on a particular day. After all, Jesus himself said, “The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath.” (Mark 2:27)

I think that I would have voted like you Casey. Of course, for me any way, Sunday.. especially Sunday morning.. is a work day.. pastors work on Sunday
Seriously, I think that Hebrews 4 is what I think of when I hear the word Sabbath:
“There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God; for anyone who enters God’s rest also rests from his own work, just as God did from his.
Sabbath to me is trusting in the finished work of the cross.. it is ceasing from worry.. ceasing from fear.. ceasing from being in control of my life. It is, as I have preached: Strength in Weakness .. sorry for the shameless sermon plug.
Happy St Patrick’s Day
